Best Techniques to Optimize Image for your Blog |
You
have to follow the process that I have mentioned here to optimize Image in a
proper way.
This
is especially important for those who have created blog on blogger.com, because
you don't get any plugins on Blogger, that's why your blog image have to
manually optimize.
1- Choose Right Images
You
must have heard saying "A picture is worth a thousand words", meaning
a picture is equal to a thousand words.
That's
why choose the right image for your article so that your post is more
informative and audience retention.
Never
use copyrighted image in your blog.
A lot
of blogger search images on Google and use on their blog by downloading image,
that can be copyrighted.
Websites
like Pixabay, FreeDigitalPhotos, Pexels, FreeImages you can use on your blog by
download stock images in free.
If
you are graphics designer, it's best to create custom unique images for your
blog.
You
can design image to post your blog in Photoshop or create custom image with
platform like Canva.com, PicMonkey.com.
If it
is not, it will spoils user experience because people who have come to your
website because of your image don't get happy and close your blog in a few
seconds.
This
increases the bounce rate of your blog and reduces the ranking of your blog, so
always use photos similar to your topic.
2- Resize Image (Height & Width)
Properly
resize the height and width of Image is a necessary factor in image
optimization, which mostly blogger overlook.
Whenever
you image download, it may be dimension (Height & Width), which requires
resize before upload in your blog.
You
can resize image with the help of Paint tool or Photoshop in the computer. You
can also take help of online tool like PicMonkey and Picresize.
I
think you don't keep blog post main image more than 650 X 360 pixels. I image
use 1200 X 628 pixels in my blog post.
3- Rename Images
Do
according rename keywords before image upload in Blog post? When you download
image from a websites, its name is "876wtgs7t44e874.png". Such file
name is not SEO friendly.
Use
main keyword when rename Image. Search engine rank it better than being keyword
in Image.
Example: - If you are writing article "How to rank
number one in Google 2018", the name of the image will be "how-
to-rank-image-in-google.png" or "how-
to-rank-image-in-google.jpg".
Always
write name on image in small letter and use dash (-) between each word.
Wrong Format: “3861781178.jpg”,
“Image optimization.png”, “earnmoneyonline.png”
Perfect Format:
“make-money-online.jpg” or “on-page-seo-guide.png”
Proper Image Format:-
Images
are of a great varieties and occur in different format such as jpg, PNG, gif
etc. But the image we use is better if it is in jpg or webP, because it has
very little size and it becomes load quickly.
If
you use another format image, it takes time to load, which slows down the speed
of your webpage.
Give
proper format of your image with webP converter.
4- Compression your Image
The
more Image file size, the more time it will take for you to be page load. That
is why you must size compress image before upload it in blog.
Try
to keep your Image inside the file size 50kb. I think as much as I can image
inside the 70kb. Use screenshot. The more high quality you use image, the more
file size will be.
Online
have a lot of tool available such as TinyPNG, Optimizilla, ImageOptimizer that
can help you compress up to 80% of image without reducing its quality.
Note- If you resize image in a proper way and
compress its file, your blog will increase up to 70% of your loading time.
5- ALT Text
Search
engine image is unable to recognize and treat it like a blank space. Alt Text
is used to describe your image. This shows search engine what your image is
here and what image about is?
After
image uploading in free blog, you can use title text and alt text by going to
its Properties.
If
your blog is on WordPress, you'll get an Alt Text box on the bottom right
corner after upload the image, where you can add alt text keyword.
Use
your article main keyword or related keyword in Alt text to improve your
image's rank in image searches.
It is
as important to write a high quality article to rank in Search Engine as it is
to optimize the image use. You can optimize your post image by follow the above
